Importance of Crossover
Crossover passive or active are very vital part of a setup. They act like the heart in human body. They protect you highs, cut unwanted frequencies not required for some drivers & boost required frequencies for other at same time in a sound setup

For a DJ setup active crossover for lows is must & passive crossover for highs is must as I have seen because of loud music very often we blow the bass drivers & diaphragm of highs.

Crossover are also of good help to cover or give away the need of a good acoustic environment required in different permanent & temporary sound installation.

Time & technology has changed the phase & looks of our humble active crossover completely because of their preprogram function it helps in doing the final sound test in short time.

Products like omnidrive by BOSS, Drive rack by DBX, are great digital revolutions for a audio setups in behringers Cx3400 & Cx2310 are great analog crossover I like.

Accentuating a crossover to me is an art or like a brush for painter and makes me feel like a Micheal Angelo. "I have also observed that it is subconscious action of every sound engineer to fiddle with the crossover after final sound test is done". In a hope that my views are of some help to the upcoming sound engineers you could always mail me for more help.

Low's Means What For a Setup
Lows or bass are (thumbs, bhumps, bhams, booms) in a sound you hear, lows are more important in recorded music then compared in live music. The new music scenario of DJ world bass or lows is 60% of sound you hear from music. Low's is the sound which can hurt you physically.

For regular party goers lows are addiction, for a dancer its getting high without booze. Its like a power house, horse, bull or an icon of energy in a sound.

Scoops, BaseBins, T-Bins, G Sub are a few model of subs available. Very high quality of drivers should be installed in a sub as they most what are strained during the show. "The one which are fired to the throat".

RCF LF18G400, LF18P300 (1000W), Precision device-1850 (800W), 8018 Front load 18" Sub by RCF are a few subs driver. I recommend or use myself.

Drivers with good BL Factor, low frequency starting over 30Hz are excellent for subs, sensitivity stats to be always studies before buying a lows driver.

Flying the sub is an challenge due to constrain of weight and angle of installation still I feel subs are always great if installed on ground level.

Rural Setups
Rural setups in India is a great challenger for any rental company.
Problems like • Voltage fluctuation
• Current availability • Very huge open area to cover
• No availability for backup or last moment equipments
• Transportation etc.

So to start with before one goes for rural setup's one should take this check list
a) Good quality servo 3 phase stabilizer (automatic should be avoided)
b) Back up power Amps 2nos
c) Extra man power skilled
d) Good Transportation (to avoid equipment getting damaged)
e) Transporting boards & trolleys
f) Equipment fitted in flight case
g) Acoustic Sheet must for cabinets.

The music scene specially in Rural Maharashtra has also changed drastically. Early from Tamasha, Natak, Orchestra now it is DJ Music. so next when ever you come to Konkan belt of Maharashtra get ready to hear the loud DJ Music with unrestricted time limits & volume level, because of this you may end up blowing your Amps, driver & highs as you drive your equipment to the highest level of power. Argo is the brand for stabilizer I recommended. For rural complications you can write to me at

Feedback of Live Setups
I think live setups are entirely a different ball game all together compared to recorded music sound set ups

For live setups Ratio & highs & mids is very important also is tone of mids.

The clarity of mid which itself is very dynamic and notorious as there is no exact measurement. They have a very wide frequency from 50 to 3000 Hz which is clean sounding mid then there is this funny character of feedback of live setup through now there are many equipments like the feedback destroyer, wide frequency settings of the consoles good microphones which make life easy snake cable with drum is an intelligent & handy product.

Locations of speakers with microphones, pick up patterns of microphones, quality of highs, are few aspects to be studied before a live setups.

Than there are complications of cables with numerous, multiple amplifiers, numerous speakers & above all timings, no second takes. Basic efforts to make the singer sound exact the same from the speaker and that is where you mids are vital.

I think for live setups experience is the only qualifications.

Soundcraft GB4 Console, RCF N850 highs, RCF L12854K & L12MBG301 mids, synthesizer G500 Microphones (indoor/outdoor) wireless Shure SLX, UFHR Microphones (outdoor) wireless, Beta 58, 87( Vocal), SM 57 (instrument) microphones, SR snake cables, DBX 166/1066 feedback destroyer, labgrupen Fp6400 Amplifiers are few products I suggest.

Like setups is such bog & complicated subject I don't know how many mails you will have to send for solutions still u can mail me.

R U THE DJ
Djing for me is firstly about the music. The money and the fame are all very nice, but the right music and how an audience reacts is what moulds a DJ. As the DJ, you are in control of everybody's night. As such you need to be professional, skillful and knowledgeable about the music, your tools, your techniques and also what the crowd wants to hear. You need to be very passionate about music and relentless in your dedication.

The best DJ tools for me are the Pioneer CDJ 100/200/400/1000's. They have become an industry standard around the world, and if you learn to DJ on any one of those, you will be all set to play globally. The mixer I feel the most comfortable with is the Pioneer 600/700/800. When I'm working with musician, then I use a Bhinger Xenyx mixer and an AKG mic. with I run through one of the channel's in my DJ mixer.

Electronic music is becoming more exciting here in India with many clubs, pubs and restaurants playing this style of music. I'm currently teaching my own DJ course in Kalyanin Nagar, Pune to also help new young talent to DJ electronic music, and spread the electronic music vibe! with four different courses available from hobbyists amateurs, advance and women's only course, it's the first electronic music course in India, being taught by a women, who is also a very successful and busy international DJ.

Right Cabinet-Right Drivers
Its like a marriage. A right marriage only works with right pairs or partners.

For me right drivers for the right cabinet is very important and treat myself as a matchmaker and I'm proud of making good marriage with proof of happy married life for many.

As the real marriages are made in heaven these marriages are made right here in my workshops or hundred of big factories in which skilled craftsman & engineers work tirelessly as match makers to complete the marriage.

As a driver is never complete without the right cabinets & neither can be used by itself.

In the whole setup cabinets are very dynamic and are show pullers the are the most exposed & seen also. So they are under pressure of looking beautiful and also to sound great.

Because It's the combination of best drivers with the best cabinets which do justice to your best equipments (Amps, mixers, mics etc) & also because they are the only way or mode to feel music.

L18 P 300, L 18 G 400, PD 1850 for lows, MBG301, L12P110K for mids, N850 De750 for highs I strongly recommend.
